Impact

Let’s talk about a few averages.

On average, the life expectancy of a human is 70 years.

On average, we spend one-third of our lives sleeping.

That leaves us with about 46 years.

That’s where I’ll leave it.

I won’t talk about how we spend time doing things we love, eating food, talking to friends, going places, and travelling.

But that’s our time on average.

46 years.

And these 46 years is the time each of us has on average to make an impact.

Now, of course, I’m not asking you to go on a conquest like Alexandar the Great.

You choose your own goals, your paths, and make your own decisions.

But most of us overestimate our time ~ thinking that we have enough time to make a difference and end up not considering how quickly time goes by sometimes.

Time goes by quickly when you start putting it in numbers.

E. Housman, an English poet, wrote a poem called Loveliest of Trees.

Counting life in the form of yearly cherry blossoms, he says,

Now, of my threescore years and ten,

Twenty will not come again,

And take from seventy springs a score,

It only leaves me fifty more.

He says that out of the 70 cherry blossoms that he’s going to witness (a.k.a 70 years of his life), 20 have already passed and only 50 are left.

And in the historical race of time, decades and centuries, and civilizations, 70 years don’t seem a lot, do they?

Now I’m not here to bum you out, even though all of us have the same conclusion.

But, I want to emphasize how most of us want to create an impact.

And while we want to create an impact, most times we forget to live.

We forget how to slow down for a second, take a breather, appreciate how far we have come in life, and how much we have to appreciate around us.

Life is a beautiful thing.

All of us have some sort of impact on the world.

But sometimes, we chase the feeling of ‘impact’ so much that we overlook most things around us.

Slow down.

46 years of staying awake is a lot of time to appreciate life.

Slow down.

46 years of staying awake is a lot of time to do something monumental.

Slow down.

46 years of staying awake is a lot of time to create an impact.

Slow down.

And if you don’t know how, join my 9D breathwork session take a breather from life and peek into your mind.
